RE: running 2 ac's on 30 amp service

There are several ways to do this. I tapped into the rear AC circuit at the generator and added the cord there. You will need to search for the different ways to do this. This is what I did! It works great. I intecepted the secondary circuit of the generator and ran it to a 20-amp outlet that I installed next to the 30-amp outlet within the utility storage area. I then intercepted the rear Air Conditioner line at the generator and installed a 3-prong 20-amp cord that also terminates in the utility storage area. I now have the ability to plug the cord into the 20-amp outlet from the generator OR plug into the 20-amp shore outlet (just like I can do with the 30-amp cord). It keeps things frosty cold during hot days. YUP! What they said! That is what you need!

RE: Last 10 years

Not to come down on the pros and cons but...I read this entire thread while my son is having a temper tantrum about he wants, he wants, he wants, wife and I are just letting him burn out (he is 5)....... kinda funny.

RE: tools

The basics for me would be: Set of metric and standard sockets with assorted extensions, open and box end of the same, pliers, channel locks, plummer pliers, side cutters, hammer, assorted screwdrivers, electrical meter (and a 12v test light), good glue (I like goop), duck tape, drill and miscellaneous bits, awl, bastard file, pipe wrench, large and small adjustable and maybe a soldering gun. Those are the one's I can think of off the top of my head without looking in the tool box and I'm sure others can add to the list. Like your style!....dont forget a good crowbar and mini sledge

RE: 1986 Holiday Rambler Imperial Specifications

Sorry I did not get back to you....been a little busy. I will take a few pics in a day or two. From what it sounds like, most of us here are pretty close on the floor plan. My bed is/was a full w/headboard on driver side. I have since gutted the bed/nightstand and installed a CalKing in it`s place. Water tank is under the bed. Converter and fuse box under the closet. I am 6'1" so I had to have the king bed. If you are more than 5'10" and with a Mrs. then build a base and drop a King bed in.....you will not regret it.

RE: 1986 Holiday Rambler Imperial Specifications

I have just acquired a 1986 Holiday Rambler Imperial. It seems to be in very good condition and came with a huge binder of manuals covering most of the various components (frig, ice maker, gas range, etc.). What I do not find however, is any mention of fuel tank, lpg, fresh water, grey water or black water capacities. I also need any information about the Sparton remote spot light. That is not working and I need a little more info about it for troubleshooting. I know that the Sparton horns are fried and will have to be replaced. Any help will be greatly appreciated. My 87 manual has..... Fresh Water 55Gal. Gray Water 27Gal. Waste Holding 38Gal. L.P.G. Tank 129# As for the light.....well....ummmm....good luck. My Light did not work when I got the unit and I cant find any info on it. I would love to see some pics! We love ours. Will get back to this thread tomarrow..........I`m beat....goodnight.

RE: P-30 TH400/425

Turbo 425 is the front wheel drive version of the Turbo 400, Eldorados, the GM motor home, etc. Turbo 475 is the version used for the P30 chassis. They are very strong, GM's strongest trans for automotive use until they started using the Allison 1000. The biggest drawback IMHO is no overdrive. Thanks for the correction.....Dont know were my brain was last night. As for the thread...just curious.

P-30 TH400/425

Hi All, Question is for everyone that has had a TH400/425 fail. Would like to know what the mileage and cooling setup was or is. I have never had one completely fail on me but am interested in those that have.

Popsicle Dog

Hi everyone, I am always in the A or Tech forum but something funny happened to our family last week on a three day boating trip....thought you like to here it. First day was great till about 2pm. We were walking back from the General Store when my five year old son said "I`m done". Wife said "Give it to Dottie" as I am turning around saying....."NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". GULP! Down it went....stick and all! Long story short.....she is fine.

RE: Remove 454 and install 7.3 IDI Diesel

I pulled a 454 out the front on a 84 Winney about 4 years ago....it was tight. I think the HR has more room than the Winney.

RE: 454-what should a rebuilt motor cost to replace?

There is a wide variety of opinions about torque converter ballooning. Do a google search and do some research. There is a pressure relief valve that prevents excessive torque converter ballooning. Assuming your trans is currently still intact, the torque converter did not balloon. See comment below: Note: There are other, commonly-thought issues such as torque converter ballooning, the wrong flexplate bolts, the wrong torque converter, the pump gears being installed backward or the torque converter not installed completely. Although all of these problems will cause undue force on the crankshaft thrust surface, it will also cause the same force on the pump gears, since all of these problems will put equal force in both directions from the torque converter. So any of these conditions should also cause serious pump damage very quickly (within minutes or hours). You can read the whole artical here: http://www.atra.com/crankshaft/ Love that article! Also keep in mind that the inlet and outlet fittings are less than .218" ISD.
